Brandy: I wish to meet NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth

“ A race she'll always remember. ”

Checkered flags and roaring engines greeted Brandy as she walked towards the racetrack.

Brandy grew up in a small Wyoming town, and she really loves two things: riding horses and watching NASCAR.  Brandy started watching NASCAR at the age of 12, and she has become a big fan of one driver in particular.

Brandy wished to meet number 17, Matt Kenseth, "He is my favorite driver.  I watched him in the Daytona 500 this year, and I was so happy when he won!"

On April 27, 2011, Brandy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia, and a little over a year later, her wish was granted. She met her her favorite NASCAR driver, her hero.

In June of 2012, Brandy and her family arrived in Pennsylvania where she was able to meet Matt Kenseth and his family at the Pocono Raceway. Brandy also caught a few of the qualifying races, toured the garage, and watched Matt race in the Pocono 400.  Matt came in 7th at the race, but he still led the points standings and, of course, still had the number one spot on Brandy's list.

  • In 2015, Chase's very unique wish was granted. "Chase wished for a hairless cat like "Thor," because he wanted something that could be his hero forever," explained Chase's mother. A cat with two different colored eyes, a yellow Larry Shyatt sweater, and a jet pack was exactly what Chase had envisioned when he wished for his hairless cat, "Thor." ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ Chase is proof that when there's a wish, there's a way. A wish is an important part of a child’s medical treatment – a chance to see that the impossible is possible. They can help give kids the strength to fight, to get better – to grow up. After being diagnosed with leukemia, Chase needed something to help him look past his diagnosis and give him strength in the face of his critical illness – and that’s what Make-A-Wish provided. #WishWednesday ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ Together, let’s grant more life-changing wishes for kids like Chase, because where there’s a wish, there’s a way.
