Grace dreamed of a sanctuary, a room of her very own design where she could relax and hang out with friends.
Grace is an exceptional and creative young woman. She is imaginative and fashionable, Grace knows exactly what she wants and she’s not afraid to go after her goals! A very rare and painful muscular disease has often confined Grace to hospital beds with severe muscle spasms, struggling to walk again. However, this strong willed girl and her tight knit family have pulled together to help Grace overcome her illness and focus on her dreams! When Make-A-Wish® volunteers visited Grace to discover her one true wish, she had a special request, she didn`t just wish for a bedroom makeover, she wanted to be the head designer on the project. Nothing could be done without Grace’s approval! Grace and her mom spent hours upon hours poring over their laptops, picking out furniture, accessories, and paint colors. She loved designing her own room; it gave her something wonderful to concentrate on when the pain became overwhelming.
The Home Depot generously donated paint, and put together the furniture for Grace’s wish and these burly men didn`t move a muscle without Grace’s permission. New furniture filled the room, a reading nook was created, and a fresh start was made! Just a month before her wish reveal party, Grace had to have surgery on her knee and hip but she was determined to walk into her room on the day of her party, and she did just that!
Her party was complete with a professionally designed cake, many well-wishing visitors, and a professional photographer to follow Grace around on her big day! Grace’s dad Jim says, “Just months before the wish we weren`t sure if Grace would walk again or how long she would live. This wish breathed life into her, and I could see my girl again.” Thank you to Rock Springs High School for making Grace’s wish come true. It is because of sponsors like you that we are able to grant the wishes of these precious Wyoming children!
