Wish Granting Volunteer
A wish granter will meet directly with the wish child and family members to help determine the child’s heartfelt wish while brainstorming and planning special enhancements throughout the wish process. Wish granters typically work in teams of two alongside Make-A-Wish staff to ensure every eligible child’s wish comes true. Our office typically receives about 30 eligible referrals each year around the state, and local wish granters work with each family to capture the details of each wish and serve as liaisons between the chapter and the family.
Wish Ambassador Volunteer
A wish ambassador will have the opportunity to represent Make-A-Wish Wyoming in a variety of ways, sharing our message and building relationships throughout the state. These volunteers are comfortable interacting with diverse groups of people and have an interest in learning and sharing information about our chapter. In coordination with the chapter, they may build relationships with potential supporters, solicit in-kind donations to support wishes and chapter initiatives, and build relationships with professionals who may be interested in using their skills to help grant wishes.
Wish Assist Volunteer
A wish assist volunteer will have the opportunity to support our chapter’s wish assist program. These wishes take place when a wish child who lives in another chapter’s territory wishes to visit Wyoming. Our chapter plans and supports these wishes so that the child and their family have a memorable wish experience, whether their wish is to visit a national park, stay at a dude ranch, dig for dinosaur bones or have some other unique experience. Wish assist volunteers will serve as representatives of our chapter, working to ensure each family has a positive experience. Most of these visits take place in northwest Wyoming, but they can happen anywhere in our state.
This volunteer opportunity allows volunteers to give their time and professional talents to wishes around the state. Volunteers have a high level of skill in their desired role. Potential roles might include: translator/interpreter, artist/graphic designer, photographer, interior designer and carpenter/architect/contractor. If you have other skills to share, we would be happy to talk about options!
Office volunteers assist chapter staff with a variety of projects that ultimately serve wish kids and families, such as preparing supporter mailings on behalf of the chapter, preparing supply kits to be delivered to wish families and event hosts around the state, digitizing and archiving local wish files for records retention, assisting with medical outreach efforts, assisting with event planning and updating information on the chapter website. The opportunity is flexible.
