Oktoberfest Event Will Benefit Make-A-Wish Wyoming

From Oil City News

Make-A-Wish Wyoming has 32 wishes in progress across the state, and an Oktoberfest pub crawl this weekend will help those wishes come true.

The Oktoberfest 2017 in downtown Casper this Saturday was organized by Wind City Physical Therapy to benefit Make-A-Wish Wyoming.

“Nothing brings people out more than beer does,” said Wind City Physical Therapy marketing director Katrina Beckman explaining her reasoning for using Oktoberfest to raise money. The hope is it becomes an annual event. “My goal is to make it so Make-A-Wish has the funds to grant ever single wish,” said Beckman.

Beckman developed a personal attachment to Make-A-Wish after a friend’s daughter who was suffering from brain cancer was given a horse. The girl, age 8, later died from her ailment. “You could see in the family how big of a difference that wish made for her,” said Beckman. “It made those last months so much brighter.”

“These children are finding ways to be amazing children while facing chemo, or whatever else they have to deal with in their treatment,” said Beckman. “You’ll never meet a child with a bigger smile than a Wish kid.”

Ethan, a 17-year old from Casper, is one of 7 wishes in the Casper area right now, according to Make-A-Wish Wyoming wish and communication coordinator Jenna VonHofe. Ethan’s wish is to have his 1969 Mustang fully restored. The car will be on display at Gaslight Social during the event.

“We are so excited to be benefiting from Wind City Physical Therapy’s Casper Oktoberfest,” said VonHofe. “Wishes are only possible through the generosity of people in communities across the state of Wyoming and right here in Casper.”

A number of downtown businesses are participating in the event, including Gaslight Social, Urban Bottle, Racca’s and The Office. There will be over 40 beers from 23 different breweries, most from Wyoming. Grant Street Grocery will be preparing German-style brats, and C85 will have their liquor trailer serving fall-inspired drinks. Participating businesses are also giving proceeds from the event back to Make-A-Wish Wyoming.

Oktoberfest 2017 benefiting Make-A-Wish Wyoming starts at 1:00, and tickets are $25 in advance and $35 day of. Click here for more information.
