Trip: I wish to have a hockey rink

Trip: I wish to have a hockey rink

“ To have him have something to look forward to about is monumental ”

- Trip's dad

Lacing up his skates, Trip could not move fast enough.

Stepping onto the synthetic ice, he began sliding one foot in front of the other as he moved toward the goal. Since receiving a bone marrow transplant, returning to the ice had been at the forefront of Trip’s mind. It was his wish for a backyard hockey rink that gave him strength and a reason to dream of what life after his illness could bring.

Drawing his hockey stick back, Trip’s gaze focused on the space between the red posts. In one swift movement, he made contact with the puck sending it into the back of the net. In this moment, Trip was not hindered by his condition. He was empowered to be a hockey player.
