Volunteers

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wyoming is continually seeking volunteers for help in our efforts to grant the wishes of Wyoming children as well as participate in "Wish Assists" whom are wish kids from around the United States and the world whose wish is to visit Wyoming. Volunteer work is especially needed in two specific areas:

Wish Granting

Volunteers are needed throughout the state to give first-hand help with granting wishes. All wish granting volunteers are trained by staff from our Casper office. Training adheres to rules established by the national orgainization and the Wyoming chapter to ensure all wishes follow specific guidelines for a complete and orderly process.

Wish granting encompasses several commitments:
  • Obtaining the proper forms from the family and physician.
  • Visiting the child and his or her family regarding the wish and asking that special question "If you could have one wish, what would it be?"
  • Managing all aspects of the child's wish.
  • Supplying complete documentation to the Wyoming chapter for approval and records.

Wish granting is a truly rewarding endeavor as you are the person who they feel is responsible for the wish. You will know the child and his or her family as a trusted friend. If you would like to help us grant wishes, please let us know.

Fund Raising

The second area volunteers are especially needed in helping us fund wish granting. Fund raising volunteers work with personnel from Casper who are involved with raising funds for wish granting. Our average wish costs around $6000 and is typically funded exclusively by the Wyoming chapter. We are constantly looking for means to grant all Wyoming wishes to eligible children. If you'd like to help us in our fund raising efforts, please let us know.

Efforts are made through grants, corporate funding, in-kind and private donors and frequent flier miles. If you are interested in helping through any of these areas let us know and we will contact you with guidelines. We are particularly careful to protect our reputation as a highly regarded, non-profit foundation and want to be represented as such. The Make-A-Wish Foundation does not participate in chain letter, telemarketing, telephone, or door-to-door solicitation.
